Perfume your pillow: a hack for better sleep?

We often think that perfume is reserved for the morning. To assert, to seduce, to exist.
But what if the real luxury was to wear it... for yourself, at night?
More and more people are perfuming their pillows, their pyjamas, even their sheets, as a secret ritual for drifting off to sleep. And science is beginning to validate this sensory intuition.

Fragrance as a soothing signal

Some natural raw materials, such as lavender, the orange blossomor sandalwoodhave demonstrated calming effects on the nervous system.
They act on the brain's GABA receptors, which slow down activity and promote sleep.

In some clinics in Japan, the diffusion of lavender essential oils is used to improve patients' sleep quality, with measurable results on heart rate and deep sleep duration.

Activated olfactory cocoon

This small gesture, lightly spraying your pillow, or placing a few drops on your wrist, sends a clear signal to your brain: pause, reset, release. Perfume then becomes an invisible blanket. An airlock between day and night. It creates a sensory cocoon that belongs to you. What's more, Coco Chanel never left her bedroom without a veil of N°5... on her sheets. "So that my dreams smell good", she was quoted as saying.

FASCENT tip

- Lightly spray the back of your pillow or pillowcase (avoid synthetic materials).
- Place a few drops on the inside of your wristor behind the ear if you sleep on your back.
- Choose fragrances based on orange blossom, lavender, chamomile, neroli, or sweet woods.

And above all: choose a fragrance that soothes you, not the one you wear to go out. Your body and mind will quickly associate this scent with letting go.
